There are three Sportshall jumps, which are also by aspiring and elite athletes as both assessment methods and training techniques in their own right.  They are:
Standing Long Jump
Standing Triple Jump
Standing Vertical Jump

Each of the Jumps might be used as an assessment method in a range of circumstances, thus it is not a bad idea to become proficient at them if you think that Athletics might be something that you will be doing for a few years.  Here are some examples:

The newly formed Talent Identification Scheme, which aims to identify the 100 or so Athletes in the 13-17 year age band who might be Olympic Athletes in the next 8-12 years time, uses the Vertical Jump as one of the seven "tests" that young Athletes are asked to perform.
The Standing Triple Jump, as well as being the only safe Triple Jump for people who have not finished growing, is an indicator of your 100 metres time.  Indeed, the Russians developed tables to convert the Triple Jump distance into 100 metre time with great accuracy.
The Standing Long Jump is part of the "Quadrathlon test", which is a Universally accepted testing method for the potential of young people who might become Throwers.

It is, therefore, highly recommended that all young people become as good as they can in the three Sportshall Jumps.  At the very least, young people will be able to jump better - which is directly beneficial for many sports including Netball, Basketball, Football (all meanings - Soccer, Rugby, American, Irish, Australian), then indirectly beneficial for all sports where Core Stability and agility play a part, for example, Tennis, Table Tennis, Weight Lifting and many more.
