Introduction

Jumps are both events in there own right and training elements for Throwers and, to a lesser degree, Sprinters.  The Jumps are:

Long Jump
Triple Jump
High Jump
Pole Vault

All Jumps consist of a

run up phase
transition phase
jump phase
landing phase

There is some commonality in the jumps and many specialist phases that Coaches and Athletes might identify.

Jumps sub-divide into

Horizontal Jumps
Vertical Jumps

Pole Vault

Only experienced Coaches should teach Pole Vault and these should be specifically qualified for Pole Vault.  If you are a novice Athlete, it is better to travel longer distances than to be introduced to a Horizontal or High Jumps Coach who might have read a little about "Pole Vault", or who could "watch you from over there".

Sportshall

In Sportshall Athletics there are also:

Standing Long Jump
Standing Triple Jump
Vertical Jump

These are great Winter training and Winter Competition events for Sprinters, Jumpers and Throwers.
