Interested in coaching young athletes.  Here are the forms and dates for courses this winter.

Athletics is almost exclusively a volunteer sport and all but a few coaches are Parents, Teachers, ex-Athletes and the like who are, quite simply, keen on helping others.  Many coaches start because they can observe the lack of coaches at their local club.  You don't need to be an ex-Olympian, but you do need to be able to enthuse your athletes, analyse their needs and deliver a training programme that will help them fulfil their potential.  The UKA Courses will teach you all you need to know to be able to do this and you will find it a rewarding experience.  Along with all major sports, Athletics operates Police Checking of all Coaches.

Will you be good enough to compete at World level?

UK Athletics, the governing body for Athletics in the UK, have produced some guidance using recent data that may show if you are on-track for achieving World Class performances.  Most athletes wonder where they are and the Power of 10 site shows the top 500 or so ranked athletes at National and Regional levels.  The new "Performance Funnels" appear to be a good tool for you and your coach to monitor your progress.  Take a look and remember to read the "Notes" thoroughly UK Performance Funnels (UKA have undertaken to update the Funnel data each year)
