| There are many fixtures around the UK.Some are league competitions that the Club has entered and may invite you to represent the club. Others are County, Regional and National Championships: you have to enter these yourselves (Ask your main coach if you are not sure, with your Parents if you are under 18). Others are run by your school system. Your Head of PE should be made aware (by you) of what events you can do to what standards so that they can pick you if appropriate. You can give the head of PE your Coach's contact details if this is going to be helpful, or if the school is not sure about the Schools Athletics competition pyramid. Finally, some are open competitions and you must enter these yourselves. Your coach may come along to them, but you should ask if you want to know for sure. An open competition is for anyone and is a great chance to beat your own PB or try out events that you are new to or want to improve at.
Other sources of information that keep athletes, coaches and parents up to date on fixtures are as follows: 1. Athletics Weekly - most large newsagents (most athletes have this delivered to their home) 2. The Governing body website - menu on the left ......... various links go to sites with their competitions 3. The England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland athletics websites - see menu on the left 4. The England regional websites (Midlands, North South) - see menu on the left 5. Your own club - most clubs will be keen for athletes to represent them at league meetings and will give out fixture lists on club nights | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
